Piere Nickolas Tourgueneff was born in Paris. He studied the clean, detailed Florentine style of the "old school" under Frémiet. In 1889 he won the coveted grand prize at the Paris Universal Exposition.

This substantial bronze was originally sculpted circa 1886 by Pierre-Nicolas Tourgueneff. It was created from a mold of Tourgueneff's original casting, so this piece offers exceptional detail. It stands a full 39" high by 24" wide, weighs roughly 90 lbs., and is signed "PIERRE TOURGUENEFF" in the bronze.

The piece was crafted of the finest pure bronze by the talented artisans working in the California art foundry, and boasts a deep, rich patina finish that is permanently fused under high heat into the metal. This is a classic artwork that will last to be treasured by future generations.

This item is cast in a mold made from the original $50,000 bronze. The quality is superb!
