Hermes was the son of Zeus and nymph Maia, Atlas' daughter. Hermes
was the god of shepherds, merchants, literature, and thieves.
He was also the messenger of the gods and conductor of souls
to the underworld. He was the cleverest out of all the Olyimpian
gods. He invented the lyre, the pipes, the musical scale, astronlmy,
weights, measures, and the care of olive trees. |
Incredible detail for such a small sculpture! |
