![]() Arnaldo's son Alfo working in the Egregia studio. |
The
son of a schoolmaster, he showed an extraordinary childhood aptitude
for music, studying the piano, violin, organ, singing and harmony
and, while a chorister in the imperial court chapel, composition
with Salieri (1808-13). By 1814 he had produced piano pieces
settings of Schiller and Metastasio, string quartets, his first
symphony and a three-act opera. "Why should the composer be more guilty than the poet who warms to fantasy by a strange flame, making an idea that inspires him the subject of his own very different treatment?" -- Franz Schubert These sculptures are made following the workmanship handed down during the time of the able Tuscan artisans, practised in reproduction of classic sculptures Each piece is entirely hand-fineshed. Egregia produces the very finest bonded marble figures available from Italy. |
