| There is a noble sentiment and magnificent rhythm to the design of this relief. It is thoroughly representative of the Greek ideals of classical art. The human figure is presented in a design which brings to the viewer a lofty aesthetic response. The original marble fragment appears to be a relief copy of a three dimensional free standing Hellenistic work executed in the third century B.C. at Cyrene, in Lybia. |
