Martel currently lives and works in Florida. Formerly from New York, Martel trained at the Parson School of Design, the Arts Student League and the Douglaston Art League. She also studied privately with Angelo Bono and Elaine Braun.

For the past 28 years, sculpting has become the expressive art form that Martel finds the most fulfilling. For her it is the ideal medium to immortalize the universal feelings of love and comfort in companionship. Her sculptures Wedding Rings and Wedding Rings II are contemporary studies capturing the bond between partners.
